Weddings at BLC

“Marriage is a gift of God, intended for the joy and mutual strength of those who enter it and for the well-being of the whole human family. The church in worship surrounds the promises made with the gathering of God’s people, the witness of the word of God, and prayers of blessing and intercession”  ~Evangelical Lutheran Worship

We rejoice with you for the love God has given to you for one another. As you begin your journey towards making your life-long commitments and into your life together it is important to surround yourself with a community of love and support. Your promises are made individually but are supported by the entire community for friends, family, and loved ones.

At BLC, couples desiring to be married will meet with Pastor Jim at least three times prior to the wedding ceremony. This helps the couples prepare for the wedding and for their marriage. If you would like to be married at BLC please contact the church office.

Planning Your Wedding at Barneveld Lutheran Church

Congratulations on your recent engagement and decision to get married at BLC! We perform weddings for members and non-members. We encourage church membership to better prepare you for your Christian commitment to your marriage. BLC’s Sanctuary accommodates approximately 200 people. It is available for weddings on Saturdays between 12:00 – 3:00 pm. Rehearsals are generally scheduled on Friday evenings at 5:00pm.

Step 1: Contact Pastor Jim Hearne at the church 608-924-8621.
He will discuss the possibilities and look at available dates. This should be done before you reserve a Reception venue, Photographer or Musicians. You will be asked to fill out a building reservation form and pay a reservation fee. Payment of the fee will confirm and reserve your chosen date on the BLC Church calendar.

Step 2: Marriage Prep
After reserving the church, Pastor Jim will meet with you to not only plan the day of the wedding but also to prepare for your marriage.  Each couple will go through pre-marriage counseling and be asked to take a relationship inventory through the Synod Counseling Center.  We will have 3 marriage preparation sessions.

Step 3: Wedding Service Planning
Meet with Pastor Jim to select Scripture readings, music, and the service components.  We ask that all church donations and fees be paid on the date of your rehearsal.  You will also need to select musicians who are familiar with our BLC sanctuary as well as being versed in Christian music and song.  A list of musicians can be obtained from Pastor Jim.
